GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) — Wisconsin Public Service (WPS) crews from Green Bay have returned home after spending a week in Florida restoring power for those affected by Hurricanes Helene and Milton. The group of about 25 workers arrived back last weekend, having repaired significant damage to the power grid during their time in Florida. Green Bay Habitat for Humanity celebrates arrival of ReStore truck The crews worked 16-hour days, replacing utility poles and restringing wires, which helped restore power to tens of thousands of customers in and around Tampa. We Energies, WPS's sister utility, also contributed to the power restoration efforts in the Tampa area, with their own group of 25 workers returning home last weekend. They have also responded to similar needs in Georgia and Florida after Hurricane Irma, and last year, they sent crews to help restore power following extreme weather in California.
