(WFLA) - A Florida man was arrested after he allegedly shot and killed his dog because he was angry that his power hadn't been restored after Hurricane Milton, according to Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey. John Burgos, 72, of Rockledge, was at home after Hurricane Milton and was mad that Florida Power & Light hadn't turned his power back on, Ivey said. Burgos allegedly began shooting his gun inside his house, and the dog was hit. Humane Society inundated with guinea pigs seeking new homes "This individual is p---ed off at FP&L, so he shoots and kills his dog," Ivey said. "Makes total sense, right? Absolutely not." Burgos reportedly didn't call 911 right away and was allegedly under the influence of alcohol, Ivey said. The dog was taken to an animal hospital where it died. When Burgos was told his dog died, the man showed no remorse and said, "Man, FP&L made me do it," according to Ivey, who said the man is a "sorry individual." "No, you're an idiot, that's what made you do this, not FP&L," Ivey said. "So don't be blaming other people for you killing your dog. You have evil in your heart, you were mad, and you couldn't control your emotions." Burgos was taken to the Brevard County Jail on charges of shooting and throwing a missile into a dwelling, use of a firearm under the influence of alcohol and animal cruelty, Ivey said.
