National magazine names Columbus among cities with best food in America

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) – A travel magazine recently named Columbus as one of the top 10 best "food cities" in America.
Condé Nast Traveler – a magazine owned by the company that also publishes Vogue, The New Yorker and Vanity Fair – recently compiled a list of the cities with the best food in America. The magazine releases an annual readers' choice awards compilation where over half a million people vote online for which American cities they believe have the best food scenes.
Columbus made the list, coming in at No. 8. The magazine stated the city supports a “robust” migrant community that has brought in “show-stopping” Vietnamese and Kenyan food.
“Home to headline-making spots like James Beard Award-nominated chef Avishar Barua’s Agni, which was also one of Bon Appétit’s 20 Best Restaurants of 2024, as well as understated, locally beloved restaurants like Ray Ray’s Hog Pit, Columbus, Ohio has something for every palate,” the magazine wrote. “The hospitality scene proudly honors the city’s roots with social supper clubs and (of course) Buckeye Donuts, which has been in business since 1969.”
Taking the No. 1 spot as the city with the best food scene in America was Oakland, California. The magazine stated the city has a diverse food scene featuring unique pizzas, soul food and taco trucks with “some of the best” birria in the country.
