(WRIC) -- A judge raised Nico Rivera's bond to $150,000 on Wednesday morning in the case of his alleged deadly assault of Jacob Baldwin earlier this month. 8News was in the courtroom on Wednesday, Oct. 23, when Rivera's bond was raised to $150,000 -- an amount ten times larger the $15,000 bond announced just a day prior. This bond update comes after Rivera turned himself in on Saturday, Oct. 19, and was arrested and charged with second-degree murder in connection to Baldwin's death. Court documents obtained by 8News indicate that an altercation took place in Scott's Addition on Saturday, Oct. 12 between 27-year-old Rivera and 27-year-old Baldwin, where Rivera punched Baldwin in the head, causing him to fall backward onto the pavement. Baldwin was pronounced dead several days later. The bond conditions remain similar to those issued with the $15,000 bond on Tuesday, Oct. 22 -- Rivera must remain at his residence at all times unless he has to attend attorney meetings or medical appointments. This will be ensured through Home Electric Monitoring (HEM), which involves a GPS device attached to his body. Rivera is also prohibited from contacting any witnesses in the case, including his girlfriend. A preliminary hearing is set in Richmond City General District Court on Dec. 5 of this year for Rivera's case.
