BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — A new festival is happening in Ascension Parish on Sunday, Oct. 27. The City of Gonzales Fall Fest is scheduled to take place from noon to 4 p.m. at the Price LeBlanc PACE Center, 2824 St. Anthony Ave. The event is open and free to the public. There will be an outdoor market with vendors, face paint, crafts, pumpkin decorating, carnival games, photo opportunities and trunk or treat. Jamell Richardson will perform, according to Jaycee Gill, director of community services. She said there will also be a magician, story time and balloon animal artist.  You can also take home a pumpkin. "There will be a punch card for trunk or treat vendors that the kids will need to visit," said Gill. "Once their punch card is completed, they can go pick up their pumpkin." Chick-fil-A aiming to open second location in Gonzales, find out when and where The event will be spread inside and outside the Price LeBlanc PACE Center. Gill said, "trunk or treat will be indoors, entertainment will be outdoors." Festival organizers are looking for trunk or treat, market and carnival game vendors. There is a $30 fee for trunk or treat stations, and they will not be allowed to sell anything at their booths. There is no cost for carnival game vendors, but they must be a nonprofit organization. "Parking for the event is free but limited. Street parking in Heritage Crossing is available," Gill said. She said bathrooms will be available on the first floor of the PACE Center.  Interim Mayor of Gonzales Robert Ryland Percy III said, "Community events are vital to the culture and life of our city. They allow us to foster connections and celebrate together. These gatherings bring people together, creating spaces where friendships form and community pride flourishes."  Gill said that this will be an annual event. "The plan is to change the theme year to year."
