Bakersfield Behavioral host 'Depression Suicide in Older Adults' free webinar Thursday

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- Bakersfield Behavioral Healthcare Hospital is hoping to save lives by spreading awareness about the dangers of suicide in a free webinar Thursday.
The webinar titled, "The Truth About Depression and Suicide in Older Adults," will go live at 2 p.m. on their website and Instagram page.

In 2022, more than 49,000 people died by suicided in the United States, according to the CDC. More than 10,000 of those deaths were individuals ages 65 and up.
According to Bakersfield Behavioral Hospital, suicide in older people took on a new urgency during the COVID-19 pandemic.
