Riverside police identified a 26-year-old man already in custody as a suspect in the fatal stabbing of a 54-year-old man last month. On Sunday, Sept. 29 at around 3:30 p.m., Riverside police went to the 2500 block of Kansas Avenue after an unresponsive man was found behind a building next to railroad tracks. Riverside firefighter-paramedics also responded and confirmed the man to be dead, according to a police press release. Detectives began an investigation, with help from the Riverside County Sheriff-Coroner’s Office. The victim was identified as Charles Edwin Jensen, 54, of Yucaipa. Investigators confirmed that Jensen was stabbed multiple times, according to authorities. The detectives identified the suspect as 26-year-old Robert Thomas Campbell from Murrieta. According to Riverside police PIO Ryan Railsback, Campbell previously had been arrested on Oct. 4 for violating the terms of his post-release community supervision, and remains in custody at a Riverside County correctional facility. He is being held without bail.
