AUSTIN (KXAN) -- A woman who allegedly struck four pedestrians and then a food truck in southeast Austin was not in custody, Austin Police Department Officer Austin Zarling said during a joint media briefing on Tuesday. She is being charged with failure to stop and render aid and aggravated assault. The call first came in to APD around 4:30 p.m. on Elmont Drive and South Pleasant Valley Road for a woman who reported her phone was stolen. After police made that report, another call came in at the same location for a crash hotshot, Zarling said. When officers arrived, they found multiple people who were ran over by a vehicle, and the food truck in the area was also struck, he said. According to police, one of the victims was the woman's child's father, and this is now being investigated as an aggravated assault family violence, as well as failure to stop and render aid. Zarling said detectives will conduct an investigation and will draw up a warrant for her arrest. Austin-Travis County EMS Captain Christa Stedman said medics responded to the report of the crash around 5:13 p.m. One person was declared a "trauma activation" and was transported to a local trauma facility with "serious not expected to be life-threatening injuries," Additionally, one other adult were transported to a local trauma facility with minor, non life-threatening injuries. Last, two other adults were treated on the scene but refused EMS transport, Stedman said. According to Austin Fire Department Rachel Lewis, the cause of the fire was still undetermined and remained under investigation Tuesday. No other details were released by officials Tuesday.
