Applications open for Cedric Richmond Scholarship Program: What Louisiana students need to know

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — The Governor's Success Council announced that applications for the Cedric Richmond Scholarship Program are open to qualifying Black students in Louisiana.
The Cedric Richmond Scholarship Program aims to support African American male students from Louisiana who have a strong commitment to their education and financial need, according to a news release.
The scholarship is available to individuals who attend a public postsecondary college or institution in Louisiana, according to the governor's office.
"This scholarship epitomizes our investment in the future prosperity of our state, by affording deserving young men the opportunity to pursue their academic aspirations without the encumbrance of financial impediments," said Chandler Vidrine, executive director of the Governor's Success Council.
Louisiana tribe gets $492K to improve security against cyber risks
Funds awarded through the program will be distributed to the college, university or institution specified in the recipient's scholarship application, according to a news release.
Applications for the program are open until Dec. 6. Click here to apply.
