Police say one man was hospitalized after striking telephone pole

TIVERTON, R.I. (WLNE) — Tiverton police say one man was sent to the hospital after his car left the roadway and struck a telephone pole.
On Oct. 20 at around 6:41pm, Tiverton Police and Fire Department received a call about a motor vehicle incident at the intersection of Main Road and Indian Point Road.
Upon arrival, officers discovered that a 2004 Buick Sable had left the roadway and struck a telephone pole, according to Tiverton Police Department Captain Michael Miguel.
At the scene, officials discovered that the 79-year-old female passenger was trapped inside the vehicle, and emergency services were eventually able to extract her.
The 80-year-old male operator was transported to Rhode Island Hospital.
The accident remains under investigation.
