PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Rhode Island Department of Health said it is advising consumers that TreeHouse Foods is recalling specific frozen waffle products due to potential Listeria contamination. The products were distributed throughout the United States and Canada, and recalled after the issue was discovered through routine testing at the manufacturing facility. There have been no confirmed cases of Listeria linked to the recalled frozen waffles, according to RIDOH. Listeria is a foodborne bacterial illness that can cause short-term symptoms such as high fever, nausea, and diarrhea. The infection can be serious, even fatal, for individuals with weakened immune systems, elderly people, and young children. Additionally, the infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women. RIDOH advises that consumers should dispose of the waffles or return the product to the place of purchase for credit. Consumers with questions can call TreeHouse Foods at 800-596-2903. The recalled waffles were sold under the following names: • Always Save • Best Choice • Bettergoods • Breakfast Best • Clover Valley • Compliments • Essentials • Food Lion • Foodhold • Giant Eagle • Good & Gather • Great Value • Hannaford • Harris Teeter • H-E-B Higher Harvest • Kodiak Cakes • Price Chopper • Publix • Schnucks • Selection • SE Grocer • Simple Truth • Tops • Western Family Categories: News, Rhode Island, Your Health
