MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- A Shelby County Sheriff's Office deputy who was severely injured in a crash while on duty last week has been identified and a GoFundMe has been organized to aid in his recovery. SCSO Sergeant Samuel C. Lilley is still hospitalized after the crash that left him in critical condition on October 15. He is always there for a friend or a stranger with a kind word and a smile," said GoFundMe organizers Carl Chatham and Bradley Price. "He has a long road to recovery ahead of him." As of Monday afternoon, the GoFundMe has amassed nearly $35,000. “I encourage the community to keep this brave deputy in their thoughts and prayers during this challenging time,” said Sheriff Floyd Bonner. “I am amazed at the love and support that the men and women of the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office, as well as the citizens of Shelby County, have poured out for Sergeant Lilley.”
