Showers and storms continue to drift to the northeast this evening. Chilly overnight temperatures area leading to a freeze watch to southwestern Colorado. Though the rain is beginning to lighten, severe thunderstorms are still possible across eastern New Mexico. Severe thunderstorm warnings have continues across the Sangre de Cristo Mountains and into far eastern New Mexico. The main threat surrounding these severe thunderstorms is heavy rain and hail. A combination of heavy rainfall and snowmelt near the Sangre de Cristo Mountains has caused flash flood warnings to be issued for the Hermits Peak Calf Canyon Burn Scar Area. The region saw measurable snowfall for the past few days. That snow is now melting and combining with heavy rainfall. This Flood Warning will remain in place until 10:00 a.m. MDT Monday October 21st. Roswell set an all-time record yesterday of daily rainfall. While they have seen a few more storms today. It is, thankfully, much less compared to yesterday. Roswell is not likely to see anymore rain tonight. Though there is still a flood warning in place until the afternoon of October 21st for the Pecos River. The river is near the flood stage. While snow is mainly melting off the mountains in New Mexico, southwestern Colorado maintains their chilly nights. A freeze warning is in place for southwest Colorado from 10:00 p.m. to 9:00 a.m. on Monday October 21st. Temperatures as low as 28 degrees are expected. More snowfall tonight is possible in the San Juan Mountains. The low pressure system responsible for the severe weather this weekend is already on its way out. Today the low began moving towards the Midwest. Tomorrow a ridge of high pressure will begin to form over New Mexico. While the center of the high will form Tuesday over the Baja Peninsula, New Mexico will still be under the ridge. This will keep New Mexico dry through next week. It will also help temperatures to warm up through the end of the week.
