CENTRAL NEW YORK – For the second time in three years the East Syracuse Minoa girls soccer team has managed to navigate its way through an entire regular season without a defeat. The 14-0-2 mark was sealed Friday night as the Spartans again unleashed its trademark attack on another overmatched opponent, humbling Watertown by a score of 7-1. held the no. 13 spot in last week’s state Class AA rankings, but continued to play better than that standard as it scored seven first-half goals at Oswego last Tuesday on the way to beating the Buccaneers 8-0. Again Leah Rehm proved unstoppable, setting a new season mark with five goals as she moved within one of 150 for her high school career and was often fed by sister Bailey Rehm, who had a career-best five assists. Morgan Palmer, Carmella Sylvester and Khloe Welch put in the other goals, while Leah Chavoustie, Ava Burry and Kyleigh Smith each earned assists. Jamesville-DeWitt went back and forth with Central Square last Tuesday night but edged the Redhawks 3-2 largely because it scored twice in the first half to go in front. Natalie Weismore’s pair of goals and a goal from Madelyn Murphy led to a season sweep as the Red Rams beat Central Square 1-0 earlier this fall. Emily Wilcox and Amelia Wormuth got assists. Fayetteville-Manlius dropped a tight 1-0 decision to Cicero-North Syracuse last Wednesday night, not quite able to get in front of a Northstars side it tied 2-2 when the teams first met on Sept. 26. Mackenzie Murphy, with her six saves, kept the game scoreless most of the way, but C-NS inched in front with 16:51 left in regulation when, on a free kick, Emery Kozdemba was able to produce the go-ahead goal. In Saturday’s game against Baldwinsville, what might be a sectional playoff preview proved encouraging for the Hornets as it played the Bees to a 1-1 draw. Having lost 3-2 when they met two weeks earlier, F-M fell behind 1-0 in the rematch but got even in the second half when Una Vlasak scored off a feed from Ashley Seidberg. Murphy’s six saves helped preserve the tie through overtime. Bishop Grimes edged Manlius Pebble Hill l-0 last Friday, the only goal coming from the Cobras’ Loyi Mugushu, whose second-half tally made the difference. The Trojans were held to just five shots overall after a 5-0 loss to Fabius-Pompey earlier in the week.
