OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) — A case of child neglect is under investigation and two metro parents are behind bars as a result. Oklahoma City Police rescued five children ranging in age, from just one to 12 years old that they say were left alone in vacant houses across Oklahoma City for days at a time. The parents, Kristen Anaya and Denis Borjas, were recently arrested for child neglect. Kristen Anaya (L) and Denis Borjas (R). Photos courtesy Oklahoma County Detention Center. Court documents allege the children were often left to fend for each other in vacant homes and an older brother would have to "protect his sisters from guys." In one instance, two sisters woke up to the sound of an unknown man coming through a window. They say he began sexually touching them before leaving back through the window. Two arrested after 47.5 pounds of cocaine found during traffic stop The children told investigators their parents would "leave them for multiple days" and they would "go to the casino and spend all the money." When the siblings told their parents about the touching incident, the affidavit states the dad "used a stick to whoop her for lying." They also disclosed the dad would hit the brother with a "hammer, crowbar and sticks" leaving bruises that would be "big and purple." The affidavit also states the children were also not enrolled in school, so the older siblings could care for the younger ones while the parents were away. News 4 reached out to police and while they declined an interview on this case, they did confirm that the children were placed with a relative by DHS.
