It was another frosty start to Friday across Central and Eastern Kentucky as high pressure overhead brough clear skies and light winds, created optimal conditions for some solid radiational cooling This allowed temperatures to drop into the low to mid-30s with a good amount of frost around the area at daybreak. With full sunshine through the day temperatures recovered nicely as afternoon highs ran back into the upper 60s which is right on par with average highs for this time in October. We are set up for an amazing weekend of weather across the Ohio Valley as the aforementioned area of high pressure drifts to the northeast and puts on the brakes. This means more sunshine across the board and with a light return flow from the south, temperatures should jump back into the low to mid-70s so conditions should be perfect for any outdoor activities. With the fall meet at Keeneland continuing and plenty of fall festivals in full swing Mother Nature will provide some ideal weather so get outside and soak up a fantastic fall weekend! The quiet weather pattern will continue into next week as we rapidly head toward the end of October. High pressure will remain in control of our weather with pleasantly cool nights and progressively warmer days as afternoon highs climb into the mid-70s with plenty of sunshine early in the week. A cold front will make a run for the Ohio Valley by Wednesday but moisture will be limited thus keeping our shower chances on the low side. The front will bring a reinforcing shot of cooler air so temperatures will take a step back later in the week with afternoon highs dropping back into the upper 60s. Have a great weekend!
