MINOT, ND (KXNET) — One of the largest food pantries is celebrating its new location and 30 years of service. The Lord's Cupboard in Minot is also back open to its regularly scheduled hours with the help of The Welcome Table. The food bank is now located at its new building off of South Broadway. The previous location, on West Burdick Expressway, was home to the pantry for the last eight years. Leaders say they serve around 3,000 people a month and with this new location, hope to serve even more. Financial micro-stresses that are stressing North Dakotans The pantry is donation-based and provides everything from produce, bread, meat, and more which people can come pick up once a week. Volunteer Vickie Pippins says the new location offers a more comfortable environment to the people who are served. "This new place allows us to have room for the clients to come in ahead of time and sit at a table so they're not out in the cold waiting to come into the building to get their food, which is huge to me. Plus it gives them a place to socialize while they're waiting," said Pippins. The Lord's Cupboard serves a free meal in its soup kitchen every Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to noon.
