HICKORY, N.C. – A car plunged into Lake Hickory on Friday morning. Around 7:30 a.m., Hickory firefighters received a report of a vehicle in the water near 12th Street Drive Northwest. The driver was able to safely exit the vehicle before firefighters arrived. When they did get there, they located the vehicle still running while submerged in the water. Firefighter crews eventually secured the vehicle and were able to pull it out. Catawba County EMS checked the driver and no injuries were reported.
