ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The Albuquerque Police Department has placed Internal Affairs Force Division Deputy Commander Gustavo Gomez on administrative leave in connection to the ongoing DWI Unit investigation. Gomez worked with APD's DWI unit from 2010 to 2013 and joined the Internal Affairs Force Division in January of this year. APD said the Internal Affairs Force Division was created to investigate former and current DWI Unit officers after allegations of misconduct. Of those ten officers, Neill Elsman, Honorio Alba, Harvey Johnson, Nelson Ortiz, Justin Hunt, Joshua Montaño, and Daren DeAguero all resigned from APD. Mark Landavazo was fired. Matthew Trahan is still on administrative leave. So far, no officers have been charged in connection to the investigation. The FBI is also investigating the unit.
