NORMAN, Okla (KFOR) — Some Norman homeowners are facing unexpected financial stress. Money they've already handed over to have concrete work done was never passed along by their contractor to the cement company. Now, a lien has been placed on their property. "I paid for it before the job was done, before the concrete was delivered, he should have in turn paid that bill and he didn't and I feel like they must be robbing Peter to pay Paul and charging those of us and paying off old bills," said Susan Katris, homeowner. Katris isn't the only one, her neighbor also had work done by A&L Concrete. They also paid for the work, but now months later, a lien has also been placed on their property by the cement company. "The two bills we have that are past due is $783 on a job that we paid $750 for, so that exceeds the amount, so we're paying for someone else's concrete on that one and then the first job was the one where we paid $6,163 and he owes $552 on that one," said Raquel Tidwell, homeowner Woman says she’s being charged for flushing toilet paper in metro apartment News 4 called the contractor, A&L Concrete and they admitted they're behind on payments. "I've talked to these people several times I don't know why they're acting like this. We had this customer who wrote us a check, it was a very large check and that check bounced and I've not been able to obtain the money from them, so I've had to pay almost $10,000 out of pocket," said A&L Concrete. A&L Concrete says they plan to pay the bills, but have no timeline. "As I get a job, I'll give the concrete company some money the best that I can do," said A&L Concrete. Genesis Concrete Company says the last payment they received was August 22 and it wasn't for Katris or Tidwell's invoices. "We feel victimized, we're frustrated, we work really hard for our money, we came here to Oklahoma to start a new life here and we just feel taken advantage of because every time we've reached out to him, there's excuses," said Tidwell. According to the lien notice, if the contractor doesn't pay the bill, these homeowners may have to pay twice or worse case scenario could even lose their homes. The homeowners are hoping it doesn't get that far, News 4 will continue to follow up.
