SCRANTON, ND (KXNET) — A wildfire broke out shortly before 1:00 p.m., near Scranton in Bowman County. Initial reports put the blaze just north of the community, between highways 21 and 12. NDResponse.gov, on its current wildfire map, indicates the blaze is seven miles north of Scranton. Scranton is between Bowman to the west and Gascoyne to the east on U.S. Highway 12. One witness, Mike Heiser, notes on his Facebook page that "All local fire department are responding." Crews responding include fire departments from Scranton, Reeder, Bowman, and Hettinger and North Dakota Forest Service. NDResponse.gov posted on its Facebook page to, "Stay out of the area so that crews can respond and ranchers can move their cattle."
