MINOT, ND (KXNET) — The 13th annual North Central Stand Down Event took place on Thursday in the Magic City. The event, which was held, at 10 a.m. at the Armed Forces Reserve Center, looked to match veterans in the community with much-needed resources. The Stand Down had around 59 resource vendors that included representatives from Veterans Affairs as well as the DAV. Last year the Standd Dwn had close to 200 veterans attend, and organizers anticipated for more veterans to attend than any other previous Stand Downs. Changing winter weather predictions forecast Military Outreach Specialist Kelli Weiand says the community support for the event has been encouraging to see over the years. "It's just great that we have so much support from our organizations that come share information and just reach out to veterans in our community to make sure they have the services that they need. It's just a wonderful opportunity for both organizations that attend as well as our veterans," said Weiand. If you were unable to attend the Stand Down event, organizers encourage veterans and their families to reach out to the Armed Forces Reserve Center where they can get connected with organizations.
