Major gas leak at Southern University fixed before homecoming weekend

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — Southern University reported a major gas leak on campus on Thursday afternoon that has now been fixed.
According to campus officials, a gas leak was reported between Fisher Hall and Frank Hayden Hall. Facility Services worked to resolve the leak.
The Baton Rouge Fire Department said the gas has been shut off. After the investigation, the fire department learned a line in the ground was hit while installing a tent.
Southern University is expected to host thousands of guests for its upcoming homecoming events for the rest of the week and the game against the Alcorn State Braves on Saturday, Oct. 19.
