ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — The famous Conehead is being represented in a big way — literally! Tom Girot is known in the Rochester community for his appearance at local sporting events in Western New York — particularly as the famous beer slinger at the Red Wings games. His popularity in Rochester and Buffalo has earned him the nickname "Conehead." On Tuesday, the Red Wings took to X to spread the word about a mural dedicated to Girot. It can be found on Arlington Street in the Neighborhood of the Arts. The Red Wings posted "Our favorite beer vendor gets his very own mural!" Girot started delivering beer and food to seats since his start in 1972 with the Buffalo Sabres. Since he first donned the conehead in 1977, he made his mark on local sports history.
