LEXINGTON COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– A Wagener man has been charged after a shooting at a Lexington County business on Thursday morning, said Lexington County deputies.
According to an arrest warrant, 73-year-old Howard Fogle Jr., was charged with attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.
“Based on the interviews detectives conducted, they’ve determined Fogle went to a business on Pond Branch Road to ask about the turn-around time on a job the business was handling for him,” Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon said.
Deputies said after some back and forth between the Aiken County man and an employee, Fogle pulled a pistol and shot at the employee.
The employee was struck multiple times and transported to the hospital.
His medical team told investigators he will recover from the gunshot wounds, according to Sheriff Koon.
Investigators said because of the service agreement between Fogle and the business, plus the entire incident being on camera, they immediately knew who Fogle was.
“He drove away from the business after the shooting and went back to his home in Wagener,” Koon said.
Aiken County deputies and Wagener police officers worked together to find Fogle and arrest him at his home.
After his arrest he was transferred to the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department’s custody.
Fogle is being held at the Lexington County Detention Center.
