Multiple SF apartment buildings evacuated after gas leak

SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- Four apartment buildings have been evacuated after a natural gas leak on Tuesday, according to the San Francisco Fire Department.
SFFD posted on its X around 9:45 a.m. about the gas leak and evacuations.
Police told KRON4 that a private contractor was working when they struck a natural gas line near 24th and Hampshire streets that began to leak.
Hampshire St. between 23rd and 25th streets is closed, fire officials said.

Police ask residents to avoid the area and use alternative routes. Muni lines 33 and 48 have been impacted by the gas leak.
The San Francisco Fire Department, San Francisco Police Department and San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency have all responded to the scene.
There have not been any reported injuries, according to police.
