BISMARCK, ND (KXNET) — The family of a Tioga man who died in the October wildfires trying to rescue his horses has started a GoFundMe page to help bury him and cover the cost of caring for the horses he saved. Ed Coppersmith (Image: GoFundMe page) Ed Coppersmith was injured in the wildfires that broke out the weekend of October 5. He was airlifted to a hospital in Denver for treatment of burns and later died October 6. "He was the hardest-working man anyone has ever known," family members write on the fundraising page. "He had a heart of gold and would do anything for anyone, even until the very end. He selflessly risked his life to rescue all of his horses from a fire, suffering severe burns, but successfully saved all 16 horses." The family is looking for help in bringing Coppersmith back home and to take care of the horses he saved. The horses, the family writes, were "Ed's dream and what he had worked hard to build for many years." The family concludes their note with, "Thank you for your prayers, kind words, and generosity as our family tries to navigate through this tragedy. The world just lost a very great man."
