Jukebox heroes, indeed. The world will once again be turning its attention to Northeast Ohio because, of course, the 39th annual Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony takes place Oct. 19 at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in downtown Cleveland. To be eligible, a solo artist or band must have released its first commercial recording at least 25 years prior to the year of nomination. The list of 2024 inductees includes Mary J. Blige, Cher, Dave Matthews Band, Foreigner, Peter Frampton, Kool & the Gang, Ozzy Osbourne and A Tribe Called Quest. Mary J. The ceremony can be viewed on Disney+. As with every induction ceremony, this one boasts astar-studded list of presenters and performers — remember three years ago when Taylor Swift opened the show? — who add sizzle to the affair. This year’s list includes Billy Idol, Busta Rhymes, Chad Smith, Chuck D., Dr. Dre, Demi Lovato, Dua Lipa, Jack Black, James Taylor, Jelly Roll, Jennifer Hudson, Julia Roberts, Keith Urban, Kelly Clarkson, Kenny Chesney, Maynard James Keenan, Method Man, Robert Trujillo, Roger Daltrey, Sammy Hagar, Slash, The Roots, Tom Morello, Wolfgang Van Halen and Zakk Wylde. “Every year, the biggest names in music, film and culture step onto the stage at our ceremony to pay tribute to the iconic inductees, whose music has defined generations,” said John Sykes, chairman of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation, in a news release. “These are once-in-a-lifetime moments created that will be remembered forever.” Rock Hall inductees commentary: Staying on the rails of a lazy train The primetime special “2024 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony” featuring performance highlights and standout moments will air Jan. 1 on ABC.
