FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) — The Jim Kelley Career Pathway Center shared an update at the Fort Wayne Community Schools Board meeting on Monday. The program will now include 6th, 7th, and 8th graders at FWCS. The Jim Kelley Career Pathway Center aims to provide students with hands-on experience, allowing them to explore various career options. It is a partnership with the Fort Wayne Boys and Girls Clubs. Last year was the program's first year. 4,200 students participated in the program in the 2023-2024 school year. The center offers career programs based on the labor market here in the Hoosier state, emphasizing Health Sciences, Manufacturing, and the Automotive Industry. Later this month, the program will extend to include over 2,000 6th graders. Parkview Health will make stops at FWCS middle schools with their mobile simulation lab this month through April. It is a fully functional ambulance fitted with medical simulation technology. This will allow them to get some hands-on experience with Ambulance and Paramedic care and CPR.
