EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) -- A school security officer at Chaparral High School had a medical emergency on campus on Monday, Oct. 14 and died, Gadsden Independent School District said in a news release. The district did not identify the employee by name but called him a "beloved" security officer and "valued member" of Chaparral High School staff. "The entire Chaparral High School community is heartbroken by this loss," the district said. “Our hearts and condolences go out to his family during this incredibly difficult time,” said GISD Superintendent Travis Dempsey. “He will be missed not only as a security officer but as a friend and a valued part of our Chaparral family.” Counselors and mental health specialists will be available on campus in the coming days for both students and staff who may need assistance, the district said. "We encourage anyone who feels the need to talk or seeks support to reach out to these services. We ask for privacy and respect for the family during this time of grief. Further details regarding memorial services will be shared as they become available," the district said in its news release.
