(WGHP) -- A cold front moved through the Tar Heel state Monday morning, and we'll really start to feel the effects starting Tuesday. Dry, cool air is moving in, and temperatures will fall into the 50s by 7 p.m. Monday. Clear skies and light winds overnight will allow temperatures to fall into the mid-40s Tuesday morning. You'll want the jacket in the morning and maybe even in the afternoon with highs in the low 60s. Cloud cover will steadily increase throughout the day Tuesday with mostly cloudy skies by the evening. Even colder air arrives by midweek with morning temperatures on Wednesday in the low 40s and highs reaching the upper 50s. Skies will be mostly sunny, and winds will continue to be out of the northwest. By Thursday, we'll see our coldest morning of the week. Temperatures will be in the mid-30s to start the day, which means a few spots could even see some light frost. It will be the first frost of the season. Afternoon temperatures reach the upper 50s with sunny skies. Our dry and fall-like weather continues heading into the weekend, but we'll start to see temperatures warming slightly. Friday morning will start off in the upper 30s with highs reaching the mid-60s in the afternoon. Saturday morning temperatures will be back in the low 40s, and afternoon temperatures reach the upper 60s with sunny skies. Sunshine continues to dominate into Sunday and Monday with morning temperatures in the mid to upper 40s and highs in the low 70s.
