Perry Village government intends to add to the fun on Halloween night, and will help make the Christmas season merrier with an outdoor community celebration. At a recent Village Council meeting, it was announced that some of the community’s government leaders and other helpers will be handing out candy to trick-or-treaters from 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 31. Councilman Mike Glover said candy will be distributed to children in front of Village Hall, located at 3758 Center Road. Glover said that he and his wife, Lee, will spearhead efforts to decorate a treat distribution area outside of Village Hall starting at 4:30 p.m. Oct. 31. He said other community members are invited to help with the project. Perry Village, North Perry Village and Perry Township all have scheduled trick-or-treating from 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 31. Looking ahead to Christmas, Mike Glover also said that the fourth annual Santa Comes to Perry Village event will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Dec. 1. at Lee Lydic Park. Santa will arrive at the park, located 3954 Call Road in Perry Village, aboard a Perry Joint Fire District fire truck. During the event, Santa Claus sits and visits with children. Parents are invited to use their own smartphones or cameras to take pictures of their kids and Santa. Guests at the event also are treated to cookies and hot chocolate. In addition, Santa Comes to Perry Village features Christmas music, which is either performed by bands or singers, or offered in the form of recorded tunes. Lee Glover, who is a member of the Perry Village Parks and Recreation Committee, said she’d like to hear from local musical groups that might want to volunteer their time and talents to perform at the 2024 Santa Comes to Perry Village.
