Oct 14, 2024
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The 39th Columbus Day Festival is wrapping up on Atwells Avenue, but not before one final day of fun on Federal Hill.
The Providence festival ran all weekend with a range of activities, including a parade.
Most of those festivities will continue through today, the actual holiday, with a range of performers across the festival’s three stages, with events set to run from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
For commuters, you can expect delays in this area from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. tonight.
Dean Street to Sutton Street along Atwells Avenue will remain closed for the festivities until the festival ends.
The festivities will continue today not only here in Providence, but across Rhode Island, with Autumnfest in Woonsocket, and the Johnston’s Columbus Day Food Truck Feast truck.
In Newport today, Broadway from Gould Street to Washington Square will be closed for the Italian Festival Parade.
If you need to get through the area, you can use the detour on Wheatland Boulevard, as the parade starts in front of St. Joseph’s Church.
Despite the potential for rainfall, festivals are prepared to continue.
