A 53-year-old man and a 59-year-old woman, both of Minneapolis, died on Sunday at their vacation home in Crow Wing County. The Crow Wing County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call for medical assistance at 2:41 p.m. on the 11000 block of Shelstad Drive in Mission Township. According to the sheriff’s office, the caller stated no one was answering the door and they asked for assistance. Upon arrival, an officer discovered a deceased woman inside the home. A man was also found in the residence and was escorted outside. Shortly afterward, the man experienced a medical emergency, and despite efforts to save him, he passed away. The deceased were identified as Brett Shelstad and Jodi Lynn Lysne. They were engaged to be married. The bodies were sent to the Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office and the investigation remains open and active. There was no threat deemed to public safety, the sheriff’s office said. The sheriff’s office also said the cause of the deaths was possibly related to drug use, but that detail has not been confirmed by the medical examiner’s office. Further information on the deaths was unavailable on Monday. Assisting at the scene were the Breezy Point Police Department and North Memorial Health Ambulance.
