APPLETON, Wis. (WFRV) - One resident was evaluated for smoke inhalation and multiple pets were rescued from an Appleton duplex early Friday morning after a fire caused an estimated $250,000 in damages. According to the Appleton Fire Department, initial reports of a fire at a home in the 3500 block of North Juanita Lane came in around 5:30 a.m. on October 11. Within 30 minutes of arrival, the fire was brought under control. It was noted that both homes of the duplex were evacuated and one resident was evaluated for smoke inhalation. Firefighters also rescued a dog, two birds, and a lizard from the scene; the dog was reportedly given oxygen during the incident.
