Medical report released following death of Shawnee Mission Northwest student

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Some answers surrounding the death of a Shawnee Mission Northwest High School football player earlier this year.
An autopsy report states that 15-year-old Ovet Gomez Regalado died from complications of heat stroke.
On Aug. 14, the teen was rushed to the hospital in critical condition after collapsing following football practice. He died two days later on Aug. 16.
There was a heat index of at least 112 degrees that day and a heat advisory was issued.

A prior medical diagnosis made Regalado more susceptible to heat-related illness, according to the medical report.
