CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – Charleston Police have extradited a man on murder charges for allegedly shooting and killing a man on Savannah Highway last week. 26-year-old Samuel Antonio Cooper was extradited from Savannah, Georgia, Thursday. Cooper is charged with murder, possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime, and two counts of unlawful conduct towards a child, according to Charleston Police. His bond hearing is 10 a.m. Friday. Officers responded to Savannah Hwy near Bees Ferry Road just after 8:30 p.m. on Oct. 3, where they found a work van near the side of the roadway. Sgt. Chris Stinson said Cooper fired into the van, hitting the driver several times. The driver was identified as 49-year-old Robert Campbell. Cooper had two children in the vehicle at the time of the shooting, investigators believe. He then fled the scene after the shooting before police arrived.
