NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – Along with the slight chill in the air to start across the region, mostly clear skies with dry air remains for now. Mostly light winds are still in place, despite the peskier northerly wind to start in Albuquerque, green flags will mostly likely be predominantly up at Balloon Fiesta for not only today, but very likely, for the remainder of the event. Temperatures are ranging from the 20s to the lower 60s across New Mexico, at-or-slightly below normal for some northern areas, while the remainder of the region is still experiencing above-normal temperatures. While stable air remains for much of the Land of Enchantment despite a little bit of leftover mid-to-upper-level moisture, the tropical moisture is still well to the southeast with deadly Hurricane Milton having moved through Florida, leaving behind a trail of destruction. Elsewhere, mostly clear skies will ensue and as temperatures will rise, southwesterly winds will pick up a little bit. From the morning school commute on into the afternoon, temperatures will eventually reach into the upper 60s, 70s, 80s, and in the lower 90s, near record territory for some. Mostly clear skies with relatively chilly mornings and seasonably warm afternoons will continue for at least the next few days as despite a storm system approaching late this weekend into early next week, most will still remain rain-free with mostly light winds up until next week where conditions will start to feel more like fall at the cost to stronger winds.
