PORTERVILLE, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A hang glider crashed in East Porterville on Wednesday evening after engine problems, the Tulare County Sheriff's Office said. Deputies say they were called to the scene near South Sunset and East Springville avenues for a plane crash just before 6:15 p.m. Once on scene, deputies say they found an injured man inside a hang glider, which was previously described as an ultra-light aircraft. The man piloting the device had sustained an injury to his leg and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. According to deputies, the man was returning to the airport when the engine cut out, causing him to crash. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office at 559-733-6218.
