EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) - Doña Ana County Fire Rescue (DAFR) remains on scene at Stahmann Farms where crews continue working to fully put up flames and reduce the smoke caused by a fire that broke out Monday, Oct. 7 at the pecan storage facility, the County announced in a news release. Photos courtesy of the Doña Ana County The County said while the fire has been contained to the original structure, heavy smoke continues to rise from the site due to the collapsed concrete roof. In addition, the high heat levels are still preventing demolition contractors from safely accessing the budling's interior, according to the County. "DAFR will continue to monitor the situation closely, applying water to prevent reignition and ensuring life safety for everyone on-site," read the news release. The County said nearby residents are once again advised to avoid exposure to the smoke, especially those with respiratory conditions.
