Suspected DUI driver injured in Clovis crash with power poles

CLOVIS, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A suspected DUI driver was critically injured after crashing into multiple power poles in Clovis, according to the Clovis Police Department.
Investigators say around 2 a.m. a man was driving westbound on Barstow Avenue near Sylmar Avenue at a high rate of speed.
Police say the driver hit an embankment rolled over several times and hit a power pole causing two poles and lines to fall into the roadway.
Police say the driver, a man in his 30s, was transported to Community Regional Medical Center with critical injuries. At this time, police say alcohol is suspected to be a factor.
PG&E crews are working to clear the roadway, however, due to the extensive damage, the roadway was closed for several hours, according to police.
