BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) -- A Louisiana man was arrested in another state in connection to an Independence Day shooting in Prairieville.
An investigation by the Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office led to Bayron Escalante, 31, of Gonzales, being arrested and charged with attempted second-degree murder, illegal use of weapons and aggravated criminal damage to property.
Deputies responded to a disturbance on July 4 on Stanley Street in Prairieville. During an investigation, a man told deputies that an argument with an acquaintance led to shots being fired. Escalante was identified as a suspect. APSO said he fled the scene in a car after firing shots.
Deputies said Escalante was found and arrested in Sevier County in Tennessee after a BOLO was issued.
He was then taken to and booked into the Ascension Parish Jail on Monday, Oct. 7. Escalante's bond was set at $325,000.
