Footage from the scene of the shooting Friday, Oct. 4, 2024. FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - A 16-year-old has now been charged as an adult in connection to a shooting that killed a man last week. Brauch Wilkins-Pease faces a murder charge, according to Allen Superior Court documents filed Tuesday. Fort Wayne Police first responded to the shooting shortly before 6 p.m. Friday in the 400 block of Dalman Avenue, near Weisser Park. The victim, identified by the coroner as 23-year-old Angel Maldonado, was pronounced dead not long after police found him at the scene. Maldonado's death was ruled a homicide, and the coroner determined he died from multiple gunshot wounds. Just before the shooting, security footage from a nearby home showed Maldonado inside a parked car. Two people could be seen getting in the car, one of whom pulled out a gun from under his sweatshirt and pointed it at Maldonado, according to court documents. The two struggled to get a hold of the gun, court documents said. Meanwhile, the third person involved was sitting in the backseat. As Maldonado got out of the car, the person in the backseat shot him and fired a total of four rounds, according to court documents. The front seat passenger allegedly also shot in Maldonado's direction as he was already limping and trying to get away. The first shooter fired two more rounds at Maldonado, according to court documents, and then both shooters ran off. The other person accused of firing shots was not identified in court documents. Investigators spoke with someone working in the area who said he saw two people in dark clothes running through an alley and into a house. When the worker heard lights and sirens, he told police he saw one of the people come back out of the house and run off with three others. Police found Wilkins-Pease during a search warrant at a nearby home. Crime scene technicians found clothes in a washing machine "with a heavy odor of bleach," according to court documents. Investigators also found two pairs of sneakers, which along with the clothes matched the description of what Wilkins-Pease and the other person had been wearing at the time of the shooting, court documents said.
