PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Hurricane Milton is bringing another wave of destruction to the south in the wake of Helene, with crews from across the Ocean State heading down to provide support. Groups like the American Red Cross, Massachusetts Task Force One, and crews at Rhode Island Energy will be heading down to Florida. Rhode Island Energy Crews will be heading out from the Lincoln Base around 6 a.m. to provide support after Milton makes landfall. Crews are responding to a mutual call from Tampa Electric and Line crews as they’ll work to restore power down in the area when they arrive. Groups like FEMA Search and Rescue Task Force One from MA are sending additional teams down to help in the response. President Joe Biden has also announced around 500 active duty troops that will head down to provide additional support as the storm makes landfall in the coming days.
