Quiet conditions with light winds will continue this week for Balloon Fiesta. Temperatures climb to near-record highs again later this week. Winds were a bit of a concern for the first day of Balloon Fiesta this weekend, but the last two mornings have been picture-perfect. This morning, a box effect even set up in Albuquerque. This afternoon, the weather has remained calm with temperatures climbing into the 80s again. Highs have been slightly cooler for most of New Mexico thanks to a backdoor cold front that moved in Sunday. This did cause a disruption of some Fiesta events Sunday evening. Tonight, conditions will remain calm with high clouds moving in from the west. Winds will be light again Tuesday morning as another "box effect" likely sets up! Temperatures will again cool down into the mid 50s Tuesday morning, climbing back into the mid 80s in the afternoon. High clouds will spread into the state though. Wednesday will be another morning with light winds for Fiesta. Another box setup is possible Wednesday morning with temperatures in the mid 50s. Near perfect weather conditions will continue for Balloon Fiesta the rest of this week with light winds and cool, but unseasonably warm low temperatures. High temperatures will climb to near-records later this week as well. A couple afternoon showers are possible, especially Wednesday, over the mountains in western and northern New Mexico, but most of this rain will evaporate before reaching the ground. That could lead to some locally windy weather. Another quiet morning is likely for Balloon Fiesta Saturday and Sunday mornings. Afternoon highs will remain well-above average this weekend as well. There may be some slightly breezier winds Sunday morning though ahead of a cold front that will bring in windier weather Sunday evening. That cold front will bring in cooler weather to start next week.
