The California Highway Patrol is investigating the death of a woman whose body was found along the 60 Freeway in Chino as a hit and run.
The woman’s body was found at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 5, but the CHP has surveillance images that appear to show the woman walking down an embankment of the freeway near Central Avenue around 4:45 a.m. on Friday, Lt. Ron Burch said Monday. Her body was found on the shoulder in that area.
The CHP does not have a description of the vehicle that hit the woman and failed to stop or report the collision as required by law, Burch said. Her name has not been publicly announced.
The Chino Police Department was working a missing-persons case at the same time, but it was unclear whether that investigation targeted the woman who died, Burch said. Family members of the missing woman posted on Facebook that their search had concluded.
The CHP asks anyone with information on the case to call 909-980-3994.
