MORGANTON, N.C. (News Release) – In the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, Burke County Government is providing free tarps to residents affected by storm damage. These tarps are available at the Foothills Higher Education Center, 2128 S Sterling Street, Morganton. The distribution will be on a first-come, first-served basis, with tarps provided as needed for individuals who require assistance covering roof damage caused by the storm. “We understand that many of our residents have sustained damage to their homes and properties. These tarps are intended to provide temporary relief by helping cover holes in roofs until permanent repairs can be made,” said Michael Willis, Burke County Emergency Services Director. The distribution center will be open from 8 am until 8 pm or until supplies are exhausted. Residents are encouraged to come early if they are in need of a tarp. Proof of residency in Burke County may be required to receive assistance.
