Coroner identifies man, shot killed in Blomquist Dr police shooting

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- The Kern County Coroner's Office identified the man shot and killed in a police shooting in southwest Bakersfield on Oct. 2.
Coroner officials say J Felix Guadalupe Manzo Chocoteco, 39, of Bakersfield, was shot in the 200 block of Blomquist Drive.
Chocoteco was taken to Kern Medical where he was pronounced dead.
The Bakersfield Police Department said officers were dispatched to a home on Blomquist Drive to a caller who said they heard unknown voices in the residence.
Kern County, Bakersfield fire departments put out structure fire on Edison Highway
At the scene, officers contacted a man, who was later identified as Chocoteco, inside the residence.
Police say Chocoteco became assaultive toward officers before an officer opened fire, striking and killing Chocoteco.
As protocol, the California Department of Justice is investigating the shooting.
