Many North Dakotans are left without power as wildfires continue
Oct 06, 2024
NORTH DAKOTA (KXNET) — It could be up to four days before power is restored to some of the people impacted by power outages that were caused by the wildfires.
However, the utility company that provides power to a number of the affected communities says power has been restored to most of the people.
In the beginning, 1,759 services were impacted -- now that number has dwindled down to just over 330.
The Mountrail-Williams Electric Cooperative says customers near the fires will be without power until crews are able to safely assess the damage and begin the repair process.
Currently, officials say where the damage is more extensive, it will take more time to repair it.
In addition, they tell KX News that crews from neighboring cooperatives will start helping them tomorrow.
