A suspect is in custody and two police officers were injured after reports of domestic violence led to an hours-long standoff between Waukesha Police and a barricaded suspect on Saturday.Waukesha Police say they responded just before 1:00 p.m. on Saturday to the 300 block of S. Moreland Blvd. A caller told police the suspect was "threatening to kill her and choked her," according to a press release from police.Police said no weapons were displayed during the incident, but the caller also told police that the suspect did have access to a firearm.The caller escaped the home, followed by the suspect.Police said the suspect reportedly tried to run the caller over with his car and unsuccessfully tried to get her into his vehicle. Police said when officers arrived at the home, the suspect was back home and was trying to leave the scene in a vehicle.Police told the suspect to surrender, but the suspect ran into the home and barricaded himself inside.Members of the Waukesha Police Tactical Unit were among several other teams and law enforcement agencies who responded.Police said they tried to de-escalate the situation for approximately 5 hours before "CS gas was deployed into the residence to get the suspect to exit."Police said the suspect still refused to come out. That's when police deployed a K9 into the home and apprehended the man in the basement. The suspect was taken into custody and then transported to Waukesha Memorial Hospital for medical clearance. Police say he will eventually be transported to the Waukesha County Jail on several domestic-related charges. The victim of the domestic violence incident sustained minor injuries.During the arrest of the suspect, two officers were injured, and transported to the Waukesha Memorial Hospital for treatment. One officer sustained a minor injury to his calf and the other officer sustained a minor injury to his knee.Several roads in the area were closed off and blocked by investigators for much of the day Saturday. The scene has since cleared. A city bus was at the scene to act as an emergency shelter along with a Salvation Army truck with supplies. Its about time to watch on your time.
